Elections for the Kurdistan Civil Society Platform were held on Friday 07 April 2017 in order to elect two delegates to the National Committee for the 2017 session, as well as to elect the members of the local executive office for the Platform. Forty people (29 men and 11 women) attended, with 28 organizations represented and 12 independent community leaders. Seven members were absent.
The result of the process was the selection of Ms. Solafa Ahmed, a representative of the Teachers Federation Organization, and Zakaria al-Hussari to take two seats in the National Committee.
Five members of the local executive office for the Kurdistan Civil Society Platform were elected: Rohlat Omar (independent), Sakina Hassan (representative of Women’s Development Organization), Aref Habash (representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Student Union), Kowher Fattah and Khaled Mohamed Hamada (representative of the Sulaymaniyah Refugee Council).
